It's always a great fun to try the local food in the places we visit. The incredible hill station featuring lush mountains and tea plantations spanning across the horizons has a lot to please our taste buds, be it a vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
While fish forms the staple diet in Munnar, rice cooked in coconut oil is another Kerala specialty. Your taste buds can sense coconut in almost every food. The weather and physical activity here is responsible for creating a raving appetite that is satisfied with delicious snacks such as vadas, bondas and bhajis complemented with a cup of tea or coffee.
A variety of locally grown spices such as peppers, clove and nutmeg are used to cook dishes. You can also relish on street food at one of the Thattukadas or fast food stalls along with savoring regular meals at restaurants. While vegetarians must try yummy Dosa, Idli, Vada, Appam and Thali meals, served on a banana leaf, non-vegetarians can enjoy the world-famous Keralan fish-curry and Kerala beef fry with Kerala Porotta.
Be it a foodie or not, Keralan food is an absolute delight for all.
