The cattle fair in the city of Pushkar is generally held in the month of November during the month of Kartik Purnima (day of full moon in the Hindu lunar month of Kartik) when hundreds of thousands of pilgrims especially come to take a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake. This event is worth visiting, at least once in a lifetime. People are so religious that they don’t mind taking a dip in the cold water, during the month of November when the nights are lit up by the striking campfires and one can hear the musical performances and the folk dance! The spirit of passion, excitement and romance is all so visible in the air! One can see vibrant colors like yellow, orange, crimson and turquoise all around, thus making the entire place look so very colorful and vibrant. The cattle fair has animals like camel, horses, donkeys, bullocks which are brought by their owners from the neighboring villages. Races of horses, camels and bulls are also a very important and an exciting part of this cattle fair and is awaiting upon with much excitement. There is no entry fee for visiting and being a part of this cattle fair.
