In the rich history of the capital of India, Delhi, the fort QUTUB MINAR has gotten a special place. It is the tallest fort in India with 72.5 metres high and 379 stairs. The base of this minaret is 14.3 metres and the last storey narrows to 2.7 metres.
History
The tower has hold rich history of the Muslim rein in Delhi. It was built by Qutbu’d-Din Aibak in AD 1198. Qutb-Ud-Din Aibak was a Turkic King of Northwest India who was the first Sultan of Delhi. Later, Qutub Minar was repaired by Firoz Shah Tughluq (AD1351-88) and Sikandar Lodi (AD 1489-1517). The credit of complete making of this tower goes to lltutmish, the third ruler of the Mamluk dynasty of Delhi of Turkic Origin. Currently, it is under the surveillance of Delhi Government to maintain the surrounding of the Qutub Minar.
Structure
No wonder, Qutub Minar is one of most precious treasure of India and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The giant tower is made of red sandstone and red marble. The tower is itself an open book to reveal its rich history to the world in Arabic language. There are many inscriptions in Nagari and Parso-Arabic languages in the walls of the tower which reveal the making history of this tower. Apart from Qutub Minar, there are several other monuments and ancient structures of the medieval era that have been ruined but a few portions are still preserved that travellers can see to observe the rich architecture of ancient India.
There is an Iron Pillar that is erected by Chandragupta Vikramaditya of the Gupta Empire, is one of the biggest attractions of the Qutub Minar. It attracts Indian travellers who believe that the pillar can fulfil their wish if they can hold the pillar with their arm while standing with their back against the pillar.

Who made qutub minar of delhi ?
Qutb-ud-Din Aibak started construction of the Qutub Minar in 1193
It's approx 1.5km from qutub minar metro station. This is a good place to show to your children, so that they can have knowledge of our historical monuments. There is also a iron pillar which is rust free. You can visit this place either in the morning or evening to avoid the hot sun. Garden inside is also beautiful to sit there in greenery place and enjoy the beauty. In the evening there is a light show which is very good for photography.
