If you are fond of going back into history and like exploring facts and knowing more ruins then Ratnagiri in Orissais the place for you. This place has by far the most interesting and massive ruins. It is believed that two large monasteries existed here from the 6th to the 12th century. Both these monasteries were well known for their intricate carvings and very uniquely carved doors. The remains of 10 m high Stupa also exist in Ratnagiri.
There is a museum at present here and that showcases very attractive stone sculptures which were collected from these three sites. There is an entry fee here, as Indians have to pay a fee of Rs 5 and foreigners have to pay Rs 100 for visiting this place. Video photography is allowed at a very nominal cost of Rs 25.
