A haven for horticulturists, nature lovers and normal tourists alike, the Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park is a famous tourist attraction in Darjeeling. Oft referred to as the Barboety Rock Garden, this beautiful rock garden is located at a distance of 10 km from the heart of the “Queen of Hill Stations”—Darjeeling. The Ganga Maya Park is situated further down the road from the Rock Garden, 3 km away.
Serving as a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists alike, these lovely places are known for their cascading waterfalls, lush green scenery and innumerable species of beautiful flowers and ornamental plants-- that are bound to take your breath away. Here, tourists can be seen indulging themselves in a host of local delicacies, enjoying a relaxing boat ride, taking pictures in the backdrop of the stunning Himalayas or picking little souvenirs and mementoes for their loved ones back home. You are not charged for taking photographs, so go ahead and shoot as many as you can; you may not get to see something so beautiful very soon!
It is well advised to rent a car for a round trip to these locations, as local transportation may not be very easily available. While at Ganga Maya Park, remember to fall in step with the Gorkha folk dancers and other entertainers waiting to charm you with their exquisite songs and dance recitals.
