Formed by the association of the names of two lakes-- Sana and Sar, located in the province of Jammu, Sanasar is best visited for its scenic beauty. Sana and Sar are situated at a distance of 20 km of Patnitop in the district of Udhampur and can be easily accessed via National Highway 1A.A haven for adventure enthusiasts, Sanasar stands tall at an elevation of 2,050 metres and lures with its panoramic views of stunning mountain ranges—including the famous Brammah Massif and the Shanta Ridge.
Tourists also like to savor the delights of Shank Pal Temple, which is situated at a height of 2,800 metres, close to the highest spot on the Shank Pal ridge. This 400-year-old temple of high religious significance, is presided by Nag Shank Pal. It is said that no concrete or mortar was used for joining the stones used for the construction of the temple. Other sights worth seeing are Shanta Gala Pass, Panchari valley and the landscapes of Lander.
