Sandakphu is the highest peak, located in the state of West Bengal and one can see both mountains of Everest as well as the Kanchenjunga from here. The peak is located at an altitude of 3630 m above the sea level. This is also believed to be the highest point of the state of West Bengal. This place is the border between the countries if India and Nepal, and is a part of the Singalila Ridge. One can only access the region via trekking. While trekking you cross the small villages of Tumling, Kala Pokhri and Meghma. The actually trek takes only 2-3 days, and the starting point is the village of Maneybhanjan, located in the state of Darjeeling for you to reach from Sandakphu and Phalut, which is the 2nd highest peak in the state.
While on a trek you will cross the Singalila National Park, and you can see the animals like the Himalayan black bear, Fire tailed Myzorins, Satyr Tragopan, Takins, Clouded Leopard, Yellow throated marten, and the Old world Babblers. This trek is considered to be the most beautiful trek and one happens to cross the beautiful Himalayan valley which is full of the beautiful blooming flowers on one hand and on the other hand you can see the beautiful mountains of Kanchenjunga and Mount Everest. On reaching the top of the peak, the view is simply breathtaking and fabulous. The trek from the peak of Sandakphu to Phalut is by far the best one, as one can get an amazing view of the world's highest peaks.
