Sangachoeling Gompa is the second oldest gompa in the state of Sikkim. It is located around 2 kms from Pellingand can be reached through a walk. The gompa is beautiful in terms of its exteriors as well as interiors along with some lovely murals and a ridge-top location. There is a huge statue of Chenresig under construction. Chenresig is the Buddhist Bodhissatava of Compassion.
The monastery offers peace and religious compassion to the visitors. If you are interested in jungle trekking then there is a 10km long jungle trek beyond Sangachoeling to Rani Dhunga. Rani Dhunga is supposedly a place where Rama and Ravana had a battle once, as per Ramayana. There are quite a few places to stay nearby and therefore the visit is quite comfortable and relaxing.
