Saundatti, located in the Belgaum district , is one of the oldest towns in the state of Karnataka. This celebrated pilgrimage centre is located about 78 kilometres away from Belgaum and refers to the taluk (sub-district) that was previously called Parasgad. Here, you can expect to see several ancient temples. The other attraction that’s worthy of a look is the Savadatti fort, that has 8 bastions and was built by Sirasangi Desai. This fort is much acclaimed for its Kadasiddheshwara temple (that’s surrounded by four bastions). In the inner chajja of Kadasiddheshwara temple’s prakara, you will come across rows of beautiful carvings, geometrical patterns and over two hundred designs that make the venue so celebrated.
