The city of State of Goa is also blessed with some beautiful temples, which have an equally interesting past. One such temple, which you should definitely visit is Damodar Temple. Located on banks of river Kushavati, near Zamboluim Village, just 22 kms from the city of Maragoa., this temple is very serene and is beautifully made. The river Kushavati’s water is considered t be sacred and is said to be full of healing powers.
Originally the Temple was built in the City of Margao, but in 1565 during the Portuguese invasion it was destroyed and a Church of Holy Spirit was made in this place. This temple is equally revered by Hindus and Catholics alike.
Shri Damodar Temple is dedicated to various Hindu Gods like Lord Ramnath and Mahesh(both incarnation of Lord Shiva) Chamundeshwari (the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity), Mahakali (the Hindu Goddess)
The environment in this serene temple becomes really festive and Joyous in the month of Feb –March the time for Shimgo festival. One can see people playing with vibrant colours. So come and experience the serenity and exuberance of this temple.
