Suru Valley is one of the most beautiful regions of Ladakh, the sure valley forms the mainstay of kargil district. Lying nested along the northeastern foot hills of the great Himalayan wall. It extends from Kargil town, first south ward for a length of about 75 kms, 65 kms upto the foot of the penzila water shed where the suru river rises. Mainly of Tibeto Darld descent are muslims who had converted their buddhist faith around the middle of the 16th century A.D. The beauty of this region is further enhanced by the shier contrast provided by the towering peaks of Nun 7135 metres and kum 7035 metres, which loom over the sky line in the their crystaline majesty.
