The Tak Thok Gompa (Jammu and Kashmir) is the only monastery which belongs to the Nyingmapa order. This monastery was founded by Rinpoche. He had meditated at the temple located in the Tak Thok monastery. There are two festivals in the monastery in a year. The 1st one being the Tak Thong Tse Chu which is held from the 9th to the 11th days of the 6th Tibetan month and the second festival is that of the Tak Thog Wangchog which is held from the 26th to 29th days of the Tibetan month.
The monastery is situated in the lap of a rock and has been named after the roof of the rock. This rock is natural and not man-made.
One can see inside the kangyurLakhang there are images of Buddha seated with his two main disciples. On the right hand side is the image of Tse Pag and one the left hand side is that of Heruka. The images Guru_Tsang_gyet which are the eight forms of Padma Sambhava are visible in the Phuk. On the ground level the new monastery is present.
