Tashiding Monastery is situated inSikkim. Considered one of the oldest and holiest of Sikkim monasteries, Tashiding Monastery was founded in 1717. Pertaining to the Nyingmapa order, Tashding Monastery is an important holy place for the Buddhists. The monastery also houses a host of ancient Manis (Buddhist Mantras carved on stone plates). Ancient lore states that in order to cleanse yourself of your sins, one visit to the Tashding Monastery is a must in a person’s lifetime.
Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Rangit and Rathong River on either side, the monastery with a backdrop of the majestic Kanchendzonga, presents an amazing view. A short trip of 40 km from Geyzing in West Sikkim will bring you to this enchanted monastery.
