The Tilinga temple is located in the town of Bordubi, which is located at a distance of 7 kms from the district of Tinsukia in the Indian state of Assam. It is located in upper Assam. This temple is a very prominent Hindu temple which is dedicated to the Hindu God Lord Shiva and is almost 50 years old. The temple got its name from the thousands of bells which can be seen in all sizes in this temple. These bells are of metal, bronze, aluminum and even copper and these have been tied to the branches of a Peepal tree. People either offer a bell or a “trishul” to the god, when their wish is fulfilled, hence one can see so many bells in this temple.
One can see more than a hundred Siva tridents placed here. It is believed that the local folks here had seen a Siva Lingam emerging from the ground and that is when the administration decided to build a temple in the same place. The temple is visited by many people all round the year and especially on Monday.
