Somnath is also known as the “protector of the moon god”. Somnath is well known for the temple which is located there. The temple is referred to as the “ Shrine eternal”. Not many of us would be aware that there are actually 64 jyothirlingas, however out of these 64 only 12 are believed to be very auspicious and holy. This is considered to be one of the twelve jyothirlingas, located in India. Each of these 123 jyothirlingas, is said to have a different form of Lord Shiva. The temple in Somnath is considered to be very high importance to the Hindus. The temple has a Chalukya style of architecture. The temple is almost 150 ft tall. It is believed to be built and destroyed time and again by many rulers from various dynasties and clans. The temple at Somnath is dedicated to the Hindu god, Lord Shiva.
The place has its own charm and importance along with its set of standard rules and regulations. There are certain tips which everyone should keep in mind while visiting Somnath. You must ensure that you have made all your travel arrangements, like your hotel reservations must be made well in advance, as you may not be able to get the room of your choice, in case you travel at a short notice.
The place overall has a temperate climate all throughout the years and one can carry light cotton clothes during the summer season and warm woolens during the winter months. To save yourself from getting burnt in the Sun one should carry a strong Sun screen lotion and then one can enjoy and explore the place.
You must remember to carry sufficient cash, just in case you run into any emergency, while travelling in Somnath. Although you will find plenty of ATM’s in Somnath, but it may be a problem in running around in case you require cash while travelling.
