Famous for its ornamental frescoes and teak pillars, Tipu Sultan’s palace is an elegant structure and glorious historical monument worth visiting. It is situated on Albert Victor Road, in vicinity to the beautiful Krishnarajendra (City) Market. The market houses some other wonderful monuments – the massive Jama Masjid, standing on the Silver Jubilee Park Road (free admission); the remains of Kempegowda’s fort; and the ornate Venkataraman Temple. Though the palace lacks the lavishness of Tipu’s summer palace in Srirangapatnam, it has always been a major tourist’s attraction. The admission will cost Rs. 5 and Rs. 100 for an Indian and Foreigner respectively. Video usage charge is Rs. 25. The visiting hours are 8.30am-5.30pm.
