Top 5 Spiritual Destinations in India

India is known as the land of spiritualism and foreigners especially travel to this country to experience the power of spiritualism. Although there many place which are considered there are a few places which are quite prominent.

1. Amritsar

Amritsar is known as the spiritual capital of the Sikhs and the place derived its name from the "Holy Pool of Nectar", which is a water body located within the premises of the Golden Temple. The place was founded in the year 1577 by the 4rth guru of the Sikhs, Guru Ram Das. Many devotees travel from all over the world to visit the Golden temple.

2. Haridwar

The city of Haridwar denotes the “the "Gateway to God" and is considered to be seven sacred places of worship in India. Haridwar is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. Pilgrims especially visit this holy place to take in the water of holy river Ganga and thus wash their sins. The evening arti of the River Ganga holds special religious significance.

3. Varanasi

Varanasi was earlier known as Kashi and is considered to be the city of Hindu God, Lord Shiva. This is also treated as one of the 7 holy cities in India. People believe that anyone who takes his last breath here goes straight to heaven. One can see numerous ghats located y the river Ganga.

4. Bodhgaya

Bodhgaya is an important Buddhist pilgrimage place in the world. This is situated in Bihar. It is believed Lord Gautama Buddha got enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree in the city of Bodhgaya. The place where Lord Buddha got enlightenment is now known as the Mahabodhi Temple complex. There are quite a few numbers of Buddhist monasteries also located here.

5. Rishikesh

Rishikesh is located on the banks of River Ganga and is located very closely to Haridwar. It is believed that yoga emerged from Rishikesh. The city is surrounded by hills on three sides. Devotees usually visiting Haridwar like to visit Rishikesh also.
