If you travel around 80 kms in the south of Chidambaram, you will find a Danish post named as Tranquebar which was constructed in the year of 1620. The huge Danesborg fort stands erected, facing the sea and looks amazing in its pink hued shade. The fort remains open on all days (10am-1pm & 2-5.45pm) except the Fridays and you will have to get the entry ticket to make your entry there. The fort was later occupied by the British in 1801, and it contains various interesting things like museum. The museum will provide you the wonderful narrative of the history from Danish to British. There is a nice gateway that will lead to the fort, was constructed in the year of 1792. There are a number of hotels in this region and you will not have a problem finding a comfortable stay. A number of them are also on the beach and you can have a good time while staying at them.
