Undavalli cave temples were created in 7th century and are still in very good shape. The temples are located at a distance of four kilometers from Vijayawada in the south west direction and remain open during day time on all days of the week (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and entry fee is very less as it is Rs. 5/- for Indian and US$2 for foreigners. These have been designed inside the caves and the interiors are meticulously crafted. The cave temples will give you the idea about fine art brilliance of earlier times. These shrines are mainly dedicated to Trimurti – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. There is a beautiful cave in the complex which is huge and contains the statue of Vishnu reclining while deities and animals are guarding at the front. If you want to visit the place, you can take a bus from Vijayawada bus station. You can also find more cave temple in the eastern side of Vijayawada which are mostly damaged but still provide the glimpse of old times.
