This memorial which was built to honor the famous Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar is situated in Kodambakkam and remains open on all days during the day time. The memorial is a special tribute to Thiruvalluvar for his classical work Thirukural. Thiruvalluvar who was a weaver, lived here around 2000 years back and wrote the poem when he was asked to record his teachings. The Thirukural suggests the way of life and how to understand the various enigmas of it and how to make the right strategies to live a perfect life. The poem is a moral code for millions of people. This memorial is built on ancient Tamil architecture ad contains the inscriptions of Thirukural’s 1330 couplets. The place remains open on all days during the day time 9am-7.30pm.
