The Varaha temple has been dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Vishnu. As per the Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu is considered to be the preserver of the universe and he is also stated to have killed many demons for bringing in peace on earth. Lord Vishnu is stated to have taken as many as 9 roles one of which is Varaha. The temple is located in the holy city of Puskhar and the temple is considered to be a very pure one. As per the Hindu legend it is believed that Lord Vishnu once became a half boar-half man and came to the earth and killed the demon Hiranyaksha, who was stated to be destroying life on earth. The temple is very old and is considered to be very old and goes back to the 12th century. It is believed that the temple was later destroyed by Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor. Later the temple was renovated by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur in the 18th century. He was the one who renovated the temple and brought it to its current state. The temple can be visited from 5:00 AM - 12:00 PM and then from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
