Vetal Hill is a prominent hill in the city of Pune. It is the highest point in the city where you can see greenery at one side and the other side the whole city. It is 2600 feet above the sea level. On the top of the hill, there is a temple located which is known as “Vetala.” It is believed that the name of the hill drives from this temple name. It is a great place for Pune residents to keep themselves away from the hustle and bustle of city’s lifestyle. The hill invites travellers to make their journey a bit adventures by trekking the hill in the morning time.
The hill and its nearby areas are under the observation of the Pune Forest Department. During monsoon, many herbal trees can be seen in the hill. A rare flowering plant, Dalbergia Melanoxylon that British had planted by the time of their rein in India is preserved by the Pune Forest Department in the Vetal Hill.
