In case you are fond of knowing more about history and would like to see the residence of Pt. Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, who was considered to be an important personality in the Bengal Renaissance. He was bestowed with the title of “Vidyasagar” because of this intelligence which was as deep as the ocean, hence the name Vidyasagar. Much later on the building was converted into a women’s college in which various languages as well as professional courses are taught to women.
This building was undertaken by the West Bengal government and was later renamed as ' Vidyasagar Smriti Mandir'. A part of the building was also transformed into a museum. While there are other things also on display in this museum, other important thing is a portrait of the philosopher and a terracotta mural which demonstrated the life of Vidyasagar.
