The Vivekananda House is located in the Kamarajar Salai area and remains open on all days except the Wednesdays. The place is not only captivating for its appearance but also has a historical importance as Swami Vivekananda once stayed here. The building which is facing the sea side was earlier built to store the ice blocks that were shipped to India from North America during the British rule. Swami Vivekananda who was the famous Indian philosopher stayed here in 1897 when he returned from USA and preached his philosophy to his disciples. The museum contains a fine collection of the memoirs of Swami Vivekananda in form of pictures and paintings. You will get to have a closer look at Swami’s life if you go through the gallery. It is quite an experience to visit this museum. The place remains open on all days during the day time 10am-noon and 3pm-7pm Thu-Tue.
