Which are the popular wildlife sanctuaries in Goa?

Most of the people are not aware that there are some very beautiful wildlife sanctuaries located in Goa. Alongwith the mesmerizing sun kissed beaches there are wild life sanctuaries also in Goa. The Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary located in Mollem is the largest wildlife area in Goa. Here you will see planty of deciduous tress and evergreen forests. Commonly found animals are Deer and gaurs (Indian bison), cobras, pythons, monkeys, Malayan giant squirrels, alongwith a few elephants and tigers and black panthers. The Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the Usgao Tisk village in north Goa, which is 52 kms away from Panaji. This is the smallest wildlife reserve in Goa. This sanctuary houses the sambar, gaur (Indian bison), deer, langur, jackal and wild boar, amongst others animals. The Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is the second largest sanctuary in Goa . Here you can see sloth bears, deer, wild boars, hyenas, and Indian bisons ,reptiles and monkeys too can be easily spotted. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is located Chorao Island along river Mandovi near Panaji. This sanctuary is fully covered with mangrove species. A variety of local and migratory birds can be found on this island.
