Yamunotri is a sacred holy place of Hindus found in the headquarters of the Uttarkashidistrict in the state of Uttarakhand. The Name Yamunotri is dedicated to the “Goddess Yamnuna”. Yamunotri popularly comes in “Char Dham Yatra”.
The major attraction of Yamunotri is the “Yamunotri Temple” dedicated to holy river Yamuna constructed by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th century. Yamunotri temple is surrounded by heavy heavenly rock named as “Divya Shila” and as per the custom one should worship it before making an entrance to the Yamunotri Temple. Next is “Surya Kund” located near Yamunotri Temple dedicated to Sun God, father of Goddess Yamuna. The striking part of this temple is the hot water, which is mainly used to cook Prasad and it also has some medicinal values.
While visiting to Yamunotri yatris may also visit other places like Badkot, Kharsali and Hanuman Chatti and feel blessed.
